Mission/Giving Statement: Across its operations, Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold, focuses on working with the communities in which it operates to develop partnerships with community organizations, fund projects designed to address priority needs, and contribute to the sustainability of each community.

Grantmaking Program Area Descriptions:

Education & Training: Seeks to support education initiatives and institutions that develop, encourage and sustain student interest, learning and achievement at the primary, secondary and post-secondary levels.  In additions, it supports programs and institutions that facilitate work force readiness, job skills development, and teacher preparation or training.

Safety, Health & Wellness: Includes safe places for children and families, health/wellness and basic safety, family violence prevention and intervention.

Environment: Includes environment quality, conservation and management; and environmental education.

Cultural Preservation & the Arts: Seeks to support preservation efforts, arts organizations and programs that provide a forum to promote and respect local culture diversity, inspire innovation and creative thinking, and contribute to local quality of life.

Community/Economic Development: Supports organizations that work to build and maintain economic viability, while fostering the ability to solve local problems through cooperation. 

Type of Funding/Funding Restrictions:  Freeport-McMoRan does not fund grantmaking entities or organizations that may pose a conflict with the goals, programs, products or employees of Freeport-McMoRan and/or one or more of its subsidiaries.  Additional restrictions available online.
