Mission/Giving Statement: Turner Foundation is committed to preventing damage to the natural systems - water, air, and land - on which all life depends.

Grantmaking Program Areas: Safeguarding Habitat; Sustainable Living; Healthy Planet & Communities; Growing the Movement; Community Youth Development

Safeguarding Habitat- Protect terrestrial and marine habitats and wildlife critical for the preservatoin of biodiversity. Focus is placed on protecting functioning ecosystems, including core, intact habitats, buffer zones, and wildlife corridors on both private and public lands.

Sustainable Living Program- Strategies include strengthening leadership in securing universal access to international family planning and reproductive health; advancing energy efficiency, renewable energy, and climate change solutions; and promoting water management policies and practices that protect water resources for ecosystems while meeting human needs.

Healthy Planet & Communities- The goal is to enrich the quality of life and health of our communities and planet. Strategies include protectiong families from air pollution and toxic chemicals, and protecting and restoring watersheds.

Growing the Movement- The goal of this program is to engage, organize and empower new constituencies in order to ensure the future protection of our environment.

Community Youth Develpment- Initiated with the intent to recognize the important role young people play in building healthy communities by supporting programs and activities that provide the necessarey skills and emotional support youth need to lead healthy lives and follow their dreams.
