Description of the Volunteer Opportunity: 

Provide FREE tax assistance to low and moderate income taxpayers as a certified AARP Tax-Aide. All volunteers attend classes and pass the IRS certification exam every year. FREE training is provided. Volunteers work in sites at senior centers and community centers all over New Mexico and are asked to work minimum of 1/2 day per week from Feb. 1 thru April 15. Study materials and on-line training available after Nov. 10, classes in January.

AARP Foundation provides FREE IRS materials, computers and computer software, plus FREE training to volunteers. Some reimbursement for expenses is available.

Computer literacy needed. Prior tax training or experience helpful but not necessary.
