Description of the Volunteer Opportunity:
Heading Home Respite Drivers provide transportation to residents in the Respite Care Program to medical appointments, benefits appointments, and other appointments which are vital to the recovery and well-being of the men that we serve.
Volunteers must have a clean driving record and be willing to learn how to drive a large passenger van used to transport our residents to their appointments.
The Heading Home Respite Program is dedicated to respite care for homeless men, 18 years and older, that need a safe place to recover from an acute illness or injury. Residents in our Respite Care Program have access night and day to showers, three meals a day, clean clothes, linens, basic medical supplies and most importantly, a safe place to recover.
Who Will Be Impacted Through This Project:
Residents at AOC Campus who require 24/7 bed rest because they are recovering from an acute medical event, who need assistance getting to medical appointments that are vital to their recovery.
