Description of the Volunteer Opportunity: 

Crossroads for Women is looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated volunteer to host a gardening skills class at our downtown location. Desired skills for the volunteer include knowledge of plant care and yard work skills. Suggested group topics include routine plant care (when to water a plant, how much to water a plant, depending on the type of plant), annual vs perennial plants, choosing plants appropriate for the climate, how to take care of vegetable and fruit plants, and landscaping/lawn care techniques like hedge trimming, mowing a lawn, and environmentally-friendly landscaping in the New Mexican desert. Group would be held consistently on a weekly basis, on any day Monday through Friday for an hour between the hours of 10 am and 5 pm. There would be some room for flexibility in availability from month to month.

This project will impact women in CRFW's programs who are maintaining recovery from substance use, living independently or in transitional housing, and have a history of being formerly incarcerated.
