Description of the Volunteer Opportunity: 

Home Teams support neighbors who have recently been housed through the Albuquerque Heading Home Initiative. Groups of 3-5 volunteers support one neighbor in re-engaging with the community. Activities, which are determined by the Home Team and their neighbor, often include visiting parks and museums, celebrating birthdays, and attending medical appointments.
An all-day orientation on a Saturday is required prior to participating in the Home Teams Program. Schedules are flexible, determined by the Home Team and their neighbor.

Who Will Be Impacted Through This Project: 

Individuals who have been experiencing homelessness are getting the support to obtain housing. Often, the people receiving permanent housing, have not had experience living in a stable home. They will be benefit by having the support of community members to participate in community events.

Nonprofit Will Provide: 

Heading Home will provide training for both the Home Team volunteers and the neighbors. Heading Home also works to provide tickets or information about free events.
