Description of the Volunteer Opportunity: 

Volunteers are needed in two main areas: 1. Lesson Assistance - Sidewalk or be a horse leader to support the riders during their therapeutic riding lessons to promote independence and safety while learning horsemanship. Lessons are Monday through Saturday, and volunteers are encouraged to pick a day/time that works best for their weekly schedule. 2. Horse Care - help feed, care for, and love on our therapy horse herd. Volunteers can choose which day/time works best for them. No horse experience is necessary, we will give you all the training and tools you need to be a successful volunteer.

Each rider with a special need, the therapy horses, and your fellow volunteers and staff at NMCTR. This is a great opportunity to not only make a difference, but to meet some amazing people along the way.

Nonprofit Will Provide: 

All training and support needed for the volunteer to feel comfortable and successful. No experience is necessary. In addition to the orientation, NMCTR hosts monthly trainings to add to your knowledge-base as well as social opportunities with riders, horses, and fellow volunteers.

Additional Requirements: 

Must be at least 14 years old and plan to wear closed-toed shoes when at the barn. Be prepared to have your life forever changed.
