Dates Volunteer is Needed:
Description of the Volunteer Opportunity:
Every two years, the New Mexico Coalition to End Homelessness and Heading Home work together to coordinate Survey Week. Our goal is to count the current number of individuals and families experiencing homelessness in Albuquerque, and to learn more about their specific needs. In order to accomplish this goal, staff and volunteers go directly to the streets in order to find people staying outside. Surveyors also go to locations such as soup kitchens, day shelters, and overnight shelters.
Areas of Interest:
Advocacy and Human Rights
Homeless and Housing
Veterans and Military Families
Who Will Be Impacted Through This Project:
Survey Week helps us learn more about the specific individuals and families who are currently experiencing homelessness. With the information collected during Survey Week, we can clearly identify those most in need of supportive housing based on medical vulnerability and other factors.
