Dates Volunteer is Needed:
Mornings 9am-12pm on 2nd Thursday of month, 3rd Tuesday, 3rd Wednesday, and last Tuesday
Description of the Volunteer Opportunity:
Help unpack pallets of food ordered monthly for residents at each site through a partner organization that does food rescue. Build food boxes and help residents who are able to build their own. Carry or push food boxes to residents doors who have mobility or health issues. Tidy the site after the distribution and store excess non-perishable food in on-site pantry.
Thank you for your interest!
There are five sites in Albuquerque where we distribute food - Sundowner Apartments, Kentucky Manor, Luna Lodge, Broadway Apartments, and NLH5/6.
Please visit our website at www.newlifehomesnm.com to see the addresses and photos for each site.
Please visit our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/newlifehomesabq/?fref=ts to see photos of activities with our residents.
Who Will Be Impacted Through This Project:
Our mission statement is to house and empower vulnerable populations. We focus on housing people who may otherwise be at-risk for homelessness. This includes senior citizens on fixed income, people with disabilities, people who are extremely low income, and those who have formerly experienced homelessness. The monthly food box helps increase the residents' food security.
