Description of the Volunteer Opportunity: 

Accompany grieving children on a 3 day/2 night camp as a big buddy. This year our camp is near Gallup at Kamp Kiwanis.

Volunteers should have experience as an overnight camper. They must be good listeners and like to have fun. They will be alongside children as they play games, participate in challenge initiatives, eat meals, and take part in grief sharing circles. No special skills needed, but must pass a background check.

Nonprofit Will Provide: 

Training and lunch is provided, as are food and lodging for camp. Must pass a background check, which we pay for. Volunteers must find their own transportation to camp. (Volunteers usually carpool from Albuquerque.)

Additional Requirements: 

Must be able to participate in all the physical activities.

Big buddies must attend a training at Children's Grief Center of New Mexico on Sat., June 27th from 9am - 2pm.
We also need people to help on Saturday, July 11, 2015 with arts & crafts and to lead challenge initiatives. You can download the volunteer application from our website childrensgrief.org
