To mobilize New Mexico healthcare and public health professionals to advocate for climate solutions that protect health and promote equity.

Primary Programs:

Healthy Climate New Mexico focuses on advocacy and education. We have a Policy and Advocacy Workgroup that engages state and local legislators through education and advocacy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, mitigate harms from oil and gas production and strengthen communities' capacity for adaptation and resilience. Our Education Workgroup hosts an annual Heat Summit, offers presentations to health professional and public groups on climate and health and conducts training and workshops to increase knowledge about health impacts of our changing climate and build capacity for action. We are currently advocating for a state climate and health program, Community Resiliency Fund, occupational heat standard, electric vehicles (including school buses), and other policy initiatives.
