The 2016 UNM Campus-Community Forum is an opportunity for faculty, staff, students and community partners to interact with the University of New Mexico’s outreach and engagement community, share your work, and make connections with potential collaborators. 

Who Should Attend?

  • Community members
  • Faculty engaged with community 
  • Students interested in service-learning or community-based work

The Forum aims to inform participants about ways that UNM students, faculty and staff members are working with community leaders to respond to those issues that effect the members our our local, national, and global communities, and to inspire and empower participants to become personally engaged in building a more just New Mexico and world.

The goal of this forum discussion is to educate and inform and to engage participants in the great work that is being down through effective campus-community partnerships. Please join us for a half-day forum on university engagement with communities. 

Timothy K. Eatman and Scott J. Peters, Co-Directors of Imagining America, will deliver the keynote, followed by a panel discussion with UNM’s inaugural Community Engaged Research Lecturer Awardee Dr. Nina Wallerstein and representatives from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation’s Community Leadership Network Fellows, moderated by UNM HSC Vice Chancellor Arthur Kaufman, and a final reconvening.

8:30 am — 8:45 am Opening Remarks: Virginia Scharff, Associate Provost for Faculty Development and Academic Initiatives, and Monica Kowal, Strategic Planner for Community Engagement and Associate Dean of Community Engaged Learning & Research
8:45 am — 9:30 am Keynote by Scott Peters and Timothy K. Eatman, Co-Directors of Imagining America: Artists and Scholars in Public Life
9:30 am — 9:45 am Break
9:45 am — 10:45 am Panel Discussion: Overcoming divides in campus-community partnerships. What can we do better?
