What is a Mindful Leader?

This past week I attended the Mindful Leadership Summit in Washington, DC and had the privilege to learn from some of the best in the field including Sharon Salzberg, Michael Carroll, and Daniel Goleman. Since I’ve been back from the conference many people have asked me what is mindful leader?

A mindful leader embodies leadership presence by cultivating focus, clarity, creativity, and compassion in the service of others.

These qualities allow a leader to connect not only to self, others, and the greater community, but it allows a leader to initiate change in a skillful way.

This is important as we live in an environment in which we are under pressure, always on, experiencing information overload, and face many distractions. By practicing mindfulness it creates greater attention that allows a leader to make the best choices and actions towards success and creates organizations of well-being, resilience, and sustainability.

What are ways in which you demonstrate qualities of a mindful leader in your workplace?
