A small nonprofit with real global reach
Since Project PeacePal's beginnings it has experienced exceptional growth, receiving requests from teachers, students and community leaders around the globe to join the program. In recent years, requests to expand the program to include Skype calls, video exchanges, student clubs and communication exchanges focused on science and technology topics have increased as well.
This has led to the formation of Global One to One, the umbrella organization that now houses an array of programs and opportunities to develop intercultural understanding among greater numbers of people, more age groups and in more locations.
New name, more programs, same mission
Global One to One is an educational 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to cultivating cross-cultural understanding and communication between students across the globe. Through our unique one to one format, global connections and communication are strengthened, creating a network of people prepared to resolve global issues together.
Students in classrooms and school clubs at the middle school, high school and collegiate levels can participate in one of our three programs. Participants develop skills in effective intercultural communication, critical thinking and problem solving, as well as collaboration - skills essential to success in the global economy, work place and international politics.
Global One to One is creating a network of students and educators who appreciate the importance of diversity and acceptance of differences on a global level.
The PeacePal program is expanding, and is now listed under Connect One to One on our website.
Over the years...
- 2007 - Project PeacePal letter exchange founded in Albuquerque, NM. The first exchange was between a school in New Mexico and a school in Togo, West Africa. Since that time nearly 14,000 students in 25 countries have participated in the program.
- 2010 - After receiving letters from West African students reporting large numbers of family deaths resulting from malaria, U.S. students mobilized to raise $20,000 in order to send 4,700 life-saving bed nets to PeacePal communities in Ghana and Togo.
- 2013 - PeacePal invited by UNESCO to establish student clubs in New Mexico, increasing opportunities for unique intercultural learning experiences.
- 2015 - PeacePal grows into Global One to One. New format includes three programs: Connect One to One, Engage One to One and Innovate One to One.
