NM Out of School Time Network - Request for Applications

Seeking a New Fiscal Home

The New Mexico Out of School Time Network (formerly the New Mexico Afterschool Alliance) is seeking a new fiscal home. For nearly six years, the Out of School Time (OST) Network (hereafter, the “Network”) has been fiscally sponsored by the New Mexico Public Education Department (PED).

This arrangement has provided many benefits to the Network, including a strong relationship with the state’s 21st Century Community Learning Center program staff and the ability to leverage state funding streams in support of the Network’s annual Fall Into Place conference and other activities. Additionally, the Network’s part-time coordinator is currently employed by PED and supported with funds provided by the Mott Foundation to the Network.

In order for the Network to grow, however, the Network’s Leadership Council recently voted to explore opportunities for finding a fiscal home outside the PED. This move is necessary in order to have the ability to secure funds from sources that are only able to donate to 501(c)(3) organizations. Additionally, a new fiscal sponsor will enable the Network to grow its staff, deepen its statewide presence, and provide greater support to practitioners looking to improve quality within their programs. Finally, the Network is seeking a fiscal home that will allow for greater engagement with the public policy process than is currently possible under its existing fiscal arrangement.

As such, the NMOST Network is releasing a Request for Applications for fiscal sponsorship that can be accessed at: http://padlet.com/kim_johnson2/9hasgpyej1y6

We are seeking a fiscal sponsor organization that is excited about Out of School Time programming in New Mexico and is interested in supporting the work of the Network and its members. If you know of an organization that might be interested, please pass this RFA along.

Any questions about the process or the RFA itself can be directed to either the NMOST Network chair person, Brittany Sontag [email protected], or the co-chair person,Tim Sheahan [email protected].
