A team of seven volunteers recruited by the United Way of Central New Mexico’s Center for Nonprofit Excellence (CNPE) and the NM Society of CPAs helped rebuild the business infrastructure of the National Institute of Flamenco (NIF) after a fire devastated their offices last December.
“Encore” volunteers helped organize the work to produce an employee handbook, personnel policies, job descriptions, financial systems, and Board training for the NIF. The “Encore” movement focuses on placing experienced professionals with social-purpose organizations in high-impact assignments.
“The fire was so devastating, on many different levels. We were so blessed to have found such an incredible group of volunteers through the United Way & the Center for Nonprofit Excellence,” said Marisa Magallanez, Director of Business Strategy & Philanthropy for the National Institute of Flamenco & Tierra Adentro: The New Mexico School of Academics, Art & Artesanía. “These folks gave critical expertise and helped to rebuild the administrative backbone of the organization. The National Institute of Flamenco is looking forward to a new chapter of flamenco in New Mexico, and we thank this wonderful group of people for their guidance during this time.”
The Center for Nonprofit Excellence organized the team of volunteers to provide expert assistance by providing a volunteer project manager and several volunteer human resource and finance professionals. Their goal was to provide advice and guidance to rebuild an improved infrastructure.
