Public Policy Director

Main Areas of Responsibility: 

The Director of Public Policy directs state and relevant federal public policy/advocacy efforts in New Mexico as well as the Ambassador Program for Congressional advocacy and the State Champion program for state advocacy.
• Under the leadership of the National Public Policy Office, implement national policy initiatives of the Alzheimer’s Association.
• Provide staff leadership for the development of public policy strategies and goals at the state level.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

• Recruit and train advocates and manage advocate communications.
• Manage the database of public policy advocates.
• Provide updates and reporting on advocacy-related actions and matters, including recruitment, contacts with congress and state leaders and legislative updates.
• Plan, implement and promote advocacy-related events.

Other Information/Requirements: 

• A Bachelor’s degree preferred. An equivalency of education and experience may be considered
• A minimum of five years of state-level government affairs experience and/or grassroots advocacy
• Experience managing volunteers and building coalitions
• Knowledge of federal and state legislative, regulatory and budget processes
