Main Areas of Responsibility: 

The Director of Public Policy directs and manages state and relevant federal public policy/advocacy efforts in the state as well as the Ambassador Program for Congressional Advocacy.
This position exists to serve as the principal advisor for public policy planning and all advocacy implementation efforts in New Mexico.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

• Provides staff leadership for the development of public policy goals at the state level in collaboration with the state public policy committee and the national public policy office.
• Oversees all efforts and activities to achieve the state-level public policy priorities, including working with the state legislature and state agencies.
• Works under the leadership of the National Public Policy Office to implement the national policy initiatives of the Alzheimer’s Association.

Other Information/Requirements: 

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• At least 5 years of state-level government affairs experience and/or grassroots advocacy.
• Outstanding verbal and written communications skills.
• Detail oriented, adaptable, organized and able to successfully manage multiple projects and tasks.
• Ability/willingness for frequent travel across the Chapter territory including some evenings and weekends.
• Strong negotiation skills.
