Part-time Organizer/Comms Position

Part-Time
Main Areas of Responsibility: 

Responsible for working with NMELC staff, legal team, and clients in developing grassroots support, strategies, and engagement focused on specific casework. We are looking for individuals residing in and with a connection to Southern New Mexico (Las Cruces, Doña Ana County, Santa Teresa, Sunland Park) and who is knowledgeable about environmental justice issues.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

● Work with NMELC staff, legal team, and client groups on organizing, outreach, advocacy related to specific casework; and outreach strategies that increase community engagement
● Create informational materials to increase public awareness, greater engagement
● Prepare and present updates to staff, clients, community, and larger public
● Foster and cultivate strong relationships with NMELC staff, legal team, clients, ally organizations, community

Experience in environmental justice/social justice community organizing
Committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI)
Strong computer, social media skills
Experience creating accessible public education materials
Communicate effectively with diverse groups of people/backgrounds

Preferred:
Connection to Southern New Mexico
Bilingual
Experience working with LGBTQ+, frontline, colonias, rural, BIPOC communities
