Main Areas of Responsibility: 

The Floor Manager oversees the operation of the SFCM exhibit floor, reception desk, and provides support to the gift shop. General duties will include hiring, training and supervising reception desk staff and exhibit facilitators, as well as supervising volunteers. Other tasks will include maintaining museum exhibits and facilitating open-ended play with our visitors on the museum floor.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

Integral to this position will be supporting the Museum’s mission and educational philosophy of “Discovering the joys of learning, play and community” by facilitating hands-on, play-based experiences for visitors with programs and activities created by the Programming staff, at floor exhibits, both indoors and out. The right candidate for this position will be a great team player with strong customer service skills, who knows the importance of having fun.

Other Information/Requirements: 

High School diploma or equivalent; 2 years of management experience. A.A./B.A. in education related field or coursework in Child Development, Early Learning, Art, STEAM or Theater, preferred. Bilingual a plus. Playful attitude essential. Knowledge and experience working with children aged 0-12. Strong leadership and organizational skills. Excellent customer service skills. Interest in education following an informal, inquiry based process. Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
