Family Specialist

Job Description
Main Areas of Responsibility: 

Plans, implements and provides comprehensive family services including; family assessments, psycho-education, parenting skills training and case management services to participants of the Crossroads for Women. Recognizes that the interests of clients are their primary responsibility. Fosters maximum self-determination on the part of the client, provides crisis intervention, personal and legal advocacy, and individual life skills training. Help clients with positive goal setting.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

Provides home-based family assessments. Develop, implement and provide individual and group parenting skills training. Provides psycho-education related to parenting and co-occurring disorders/other family issues. Case management for family related matters in coordination with the primary case manager. Advocates for the family with educational entities. Transports families as needed. Maintains records and other documentation in accordance with agency standards.

Other Information/Requirements: 

BS or combination of relevant education, training, and experience totaling 4 years. Understanding of the dynamics of substance abuse, mental health issues, homelessness, interpersonal violence, and the impact on family and child development. Ability to multi-task. Crisis management. Collaborate for service provision. Promote mutual respect/public respect. Access to own vehicle and valid New Mexico Driver’s license. Twenty-one years of age. Must obtain NCIC clearance.
