Director of Technical Production

Main Areas of Responsibility: 

The Director of Technical Production is responsible for the planning, budgeting, execution, and continuous improvement of technical production systems across NIF’s performance and production activity. This role leads the organization’s technical infrastructure across a distributed, multi-venue environment and ensures that productions, touring, rentals, recurring venue activity, and public performance programs are technically sound, financially disciplined, and operationally aligned.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

This role leads production planning, venue advances, staffing, and technical budgets; manages equipment inventory, maintenance, and transportation; and enforces cost control to protect margins. They develop production models, estimates, and rental income from assets. The role adapts systems across venues and supervises production staff, ensuring efficient, high-quality performance delivery.

Other Information/Requirements: 

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in technical theatre, design, or equivalent professional experience. Minimum 7 years of technical production experience in live performance, festival, touring, or multi-venue environments. Success managing technical budgets, venue advances, labor plans, and multi-project production calendars. Strong knowledge of lighting, sound, stage management, deck operations. Ability to communicate clearly with artists, staff, venues, operational partners. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Salary Range: 
$70,000 - $80,000 commensurate with experience
