Director of Development

Job Description
Main Areas of Responsibility: 

• Responsible for raising $325,000 annually in collaboration with development staff and volunteers via individual gifts, grants and events.
• Responsible for major annual event –works with E.D., Development Staff and Volunteers to obtain sponsorships, auction donations, volunteer teams, and ticket sales necessary to reach budgeted goals.
• Identifies new prospects for making annual gifts, major gifts and planned gifts. Arranges direct asks.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

• Creates & implements a promotions campaign for major annual event.
• Contributes to a vibrant social media presence and other opportunities as identified.
• Contributes to the planning and execution of traditional mail marketing.
• Seek out public speaking opportunities, promoting the Grief Center’s services, donor and volunteer opportunities.
• Work with our families, volunteers and staff to develop their stories and powerful ways to share them.

Other Information/Requirements: 

Minimum Qualifications:
• Three to five years professional fundraising experience.
• Adherence to highest ethical practices in fundraising & money management.
• Demonstrated experience in implementing a successful large-scale campaign and in direct asks resulting in major gifts and multi-year pledges.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Independent self-starter with positive problem-solver attitude
• Very computer literate
