Mission/Giving Statement: General Mills invests in the people, neighborhoods and education of the communities in which we live and work. In General Mills communities outside the Twin Cities, our key grantmaking priorities are improving youth nutrition and fitness, and United Way.

Grantmaking Program Area Descriptions:

Education: General Mills Foundation supports efforts that emphasize student academic achievement at the pre K through 12 levels with a focus on academic enrichment and advancement.

Strengthening Communitites (Legacy): General Mills Foundation provides Legacy support for family services and arts & culture nonprofits - organization in which the Foundation has had a historical, long term funding relationship. The Foundation is not accepting applications for new grants in these categories. 

United Way Campaign: General Mills has a long history of supporting the United Way through employee campaigns. The General Mills Foundation matches employee and retiree contributions dollar-for-dollar.

Type of Funding/Funding Restrictions: The Foundation focuses on grant making, scholarships, and employee gift matching. As a standard practice, it does not support Social, labor, veterans, alumni or fraternal organizations; Advertising; Recreational, sporting events or athletic associations; or Basic research. List of additional restrictions available online.
