Knowing how to run an efficient and productive meeting is an essential skill for any nonprofit leader. Join us for this brown bag session to learn how to maximize your time and resources whenever you convene staff or board members.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand the basic elements of a productive meeting
  • Learn how to create a timed agenda and utilize a consent agenda
  • Learn best practices for facilitating meetings, establishing a power balance and a code of conduct
  • Identify the information that should be included in the meeting minutes and action items

Description

When meetings seem to go on forever and nothing gets done, participants lose interest and your agency loses valuable time and resources. One of the most effective tools nonprofit agencies have for achieving mission is creating opportunities for stakeholders to meet, engage, assess and take action on goals, and record and align their decisions with the agency’s key objectives. Stakeholders whose time and contributions are valued in this way will grow with your agency.

The keys to productive meetings are clearly defined goals, advance planning and notification, a well-crafted and timed agenda, a balance of power among participants, and a process for implementing action items. This training will provide all of these components to role model the process. In addition to handouts, you will take away simple tips to transform your meetings from monotony to exciting (Yes, exciting meetings!).
