Making Every Word Count in Grant Writing

This training will hone your skills for concise writing for grant proposals.  You will learn crucial information and writing structures for brief project or program explanations.  During the session, there will be an opportunity to practice trimming text and drafting short descriptions.  You will appreciate the general importance and characteristics of clean, clear writing.  By the end of the training, participants will understand common pitfalls and tips for working with length-limited online and hardcopy applications.

Presenters
Aly Sanchez is the Director of Projects for The Grant Plant, Inc. She is responsible for project performance, production of stakeholder relations materials, and developing product offerings and staff skills. She holds an Executive Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of New Mexico. Aly has 16 years of experience in grant writing and resource development for local nonprofit organizations. She has presented grants trainings and classes for the Center for Nonprofit Excellence, New Mexico State University, and Public Allies New Mexico. Aly has served as a grant reviewer for the Albuquerque Community Foundation and New Mexico Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department.

Jenny Jackson is a Resource Development Officer for The Grant Plant, Inc., where she is responsible for project management and proposal development. Jenny has a wide range of grant writing experience, from massive federal grants to short community foundation grants with very tight character limits. She holds a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Arts in Latin American Studies from the University of New Mexico. Jenny is also the founder of Jackson Writing and Research, a consulting and technical writing business, and has a wide range of other writing experiences from radio journalism to academic and technical writing.
