Survey Design for Outcomes Assessment

With increasing emphasis on outcomes measurements, nonprofits are searching for ways to demonstrate their program's impact.  Surveys can be a useful tool to collect feedback from clients, employees, and/or stakeholders.  The importance of clearly articulating the purpose of the survey and how the results will be used are critical aspects of focusing survey design.  This workshop will introduce participants to using surveys as a data collection technique.  At the end of this workshop, participants will feel more confident with their abilities to create surveys to meet the information needs of their organizations.

Barbra Portzline, Director of Organizational Development, Entereza, Inc.
With over 15 years of experience, Barbra is an established leader in program evaluation and organizational development.  Her clientele is diverse, ranging from government, education, health care, and community organizations to the corporate sector.  Barbra passionately believes in the benefits of evaluation and brings enthusiasm and dedication to each project she undertakes.  Barbra is the published author of several articles on evaluation including "Using Appreciative Inquiry to Develop a Training Evaluation System at Sandia National Laboratories", “Throwing a Curveball in the Game of Evaluation: Deception and the Misuse of Findings", and "An Evaluation of I Can Hope: Insights into Program Design and Implementation".  She teaches graduate level program evaluation at the University of New Mexico. 

Tammy Kaiser, Instructional Systems Designer, Entereza, Inc.
Kaiser has developed religious and cultural awareness training for the Transportation Security Administration and works on watch qualification processes for the US Coast Guard. Kaiser is a frequent public speaker and trainer on multiple topics including, leadership development, conflict resolution, supervisory effectiveness, communication strategies, relationship-building, ethics and creating high performing teams. She has served as a faculty mentor for multiple schools and districts located in Washington and New Mexico. Her teaching guides and courseware are used throughout the nation. Kaiser’s background in the health and medical sciences informs her evaluation and assessment using evidence-based information. Kaiser holds a master's degree in education and is a frequent guest lecturer at both the CNM and the UNM, covering topics ranging from neuroengagement in the workplace to cultural diversity. Kaiser’s current doctoral research focuses on learning theory and practice with a concentration on cognitive process.
