Developing Your Grant Writing Strategy

Participants will be able to create and adapt a tactical plan for any grant application they intend to pursue.  The training will teach you how to research grant prospects, plan your approach strategy, and the importance of making an initial contact with the funder.  It will also include an overview of the steps in developing and submitting your proposal and the importance of following up your submission.

At the end of the training, participants will be able to describe:
- Grant research activities and available tools
- The structure and content of effective letters of inquiry and grant applications
- How to initiate contact and follow-up after submission

Grant writers, program managers, executive directors and anyone involved in the grant process in your organization.

Presenters
Paul Oostenbrug is the President of East Bridge Consultants.  He works with nonprofit organizations, behavioural health organizations, homeless serving organizations, and hospitals to address strategic, marketing, and analytical challenges.  This involves program development, project management, program evaluation, technical writing, and research.  He produces proposals, grant applications, and documentation for submission to foundations and government agencies.

Arika Sánchez is the Project Specialist, Center for Nonprofit Excellence.  Arika maintains the New Mexico Grantmakers Directory, the New Mexico Nonprofit Directory, Volunteer Connection, and the New Mexico Nonprofit Consultants Directory.
