One of the most important actions of a nonprofit board is to hire an Executive Director.  Finding the right person to lead the organization can be critical to its future success.  Establishing an evaluation process will enhance the capacity of the organization's management.  When the evaluation process is done well, it helps the Executive Director to improve and grow in their role.  This presentation will provide some guidelines and processes for hiring and evaluating an executive director.

Presenter
John W. Williams has been a Human Resources executive for 31 years working at Fortune 500 companies including US West, Level 3 Communications, and Mosaic Potash.  Prior to his business career he was an Associate Professor in the College of Business at Oklahoma State University.

Dr. Williams earned a Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, and is the co-author of two books on human relations.  Through his leadership in 2010, Mosaic Potash received the New Mexico State Corporation of the Year award in philanthropy.  In 2012 he retired from corporate business and is now doing social purpose work.  He is Board President of the 501 (c)(3) Non Profit Back Office Resources (NPBOR) and Vice President of Professional Development for the Human Resources Management Association of New Mexico.
