When advocacy is paired with providing service, nonprofits can make a bigger difference in their communities.  Good advocacy work is built upon relationships.  Understanding the unique features of the New Mexico state legislature will help you determine an advocacy approach and enable you to plan ahead and begin building those key relationships.

Join us for an overview of the state legislative structure and insights for making the most of your advocacy efforts.

For nonprofit staff and volunteers who are planning to do advocacy work; for anyone planning to lobby at the Roundhouse.

Presenter
Melanie Pohl has been a Development Officer with United Way of Central New Mexico for three years.  In addition to development work, she is the staff support for the UWCNM Public Policy Committee. In her role she has helped the committee create the framework and guidelines by which all policy decisions and actions are reviewed. Melanie oversees the policy activity of UWCNM in all areas of public regulation from local municipalities to our federal delegation. She has a background in health care, contract management, regulatory reporting and policy implementation.
