With over 40 years combined experience, Stewart Shatz and Richard Smith of NM Workforce Connection say it's part science and part art.  Join Richard and Stewart to learn about writing a job description, advertising for candidates, sorting through applications, interviewing and how to reach a decision.

Richard and Stewart will cover:

  1. The actual components of the hiring process
  2. How a job description is developed
  3. How to sort through resumes and cover letters to choose candidates to interview
  4. The interview process, knowing how to ask questions that will help you determine a cultural match for your organization
  5. How to reach a decision and make a hiring offer

Stewart Shatz was the owner/manager of an executive search firm for over 14 years.  He has also worked as an Executive Director for 2 nonprofits.  Stewart has a Master's Degree in Human Resource Management from Pepperdine University.

Richard Smith was a newspaper personnel manager for 25 years.  He was named 2000 Ohio Disability Employer of the Year.  He was an MCI National Recruiter for Los Alamos and Sandia National Labs.  Richard has Professional Human Resources certification (PHR).
