Grant Writing Essentials

Grant writing is asking for money to address an identified need that aligns with a funder's philanthropic objectives.  If you want your grant proposal to shine, then master the basics and get some tips to make your proposal stand out.

This full day workshop will cover grant writing essentials including writing a needs statement, using outcome based evaluation and developing a grant proposal plan.  You will also learn to interpret grant maker guidelines.  These components lay the foundation for generating a compelling, successful grant application.

You will have an opportunity to do some practice writing, so bring your laptop.

Learning Objectives
- learn a step by step approach toward writing compelling grant proposals
- create systems to help your organization apply for multiple grants efficiently
- create checklists for each grant to ensure guidelines are followed
- participate in writing exercises where you will write core proposal sections for practice

Claudia Lucas, MA, has a professional background in community services planning and fund development.  Claudia has been writing proposals since 1988 and started The Written Edge in 1999 providing grant writing and search services to local nonprofits.   Claudia has taught grant writing courses since 2002.
