Using Census Data for Grant Writing

Today’s nonprofit professional must be an expert storyteller in order to create a compelling case for community needs and communicating the impact of your organization’s programs and services.  From drafting funding proposals to developing an advocacy strategy or creating content for your website; current, relevant and trusted Census data is critical!

A leading source for the nation’s data is census.gov which provides access to Census 2010 population counts and the American Community Survey through the American FactFinder (AFF). The American Community Survey (ACS) provides social, economic, and housing characteristics of every community in New Mexico.  The AFF is the primary data search tool for distributing population and economic data.

This workshop is designed to provide participants hands-on experience with census.gov. Participants will gain skills in navigating with the AFF, ACS, and the 2010 Census, understand important concepts, and when to use what data depending on their data needs.

This workshop is cosponsored by the Albuquerque Community Foundation and WESST.

Seating is limited and laptops will be provided.  Registration is limited to first twenty participants who register.  Free parking is available at the site.  Come join us!
