Effective Strategies for Engaging Your Constitutents and Cultivating Donors Online

Do you have a "Donate Now" button on your website but no donations coming in? Need to increase your email blast open and click-through rates?  Not getting many likes or comments on your Facebook Page? Wondering if Twitter or LinkedIn are for you?

This full-day workshop explores detailed best practices related to online communication and fundraising for nonprofits. By the end of the workshop participants should have a clear understanding of how to conceptualize and implement an effective online communication strategy to advance their organization’s objectives.

Learning Objectives

(1) Understand how online platforms (website, mass emailing tool, social media, constituent relationship management systems, Google Ads & Analytics, online PR) can be used collectively to:
    - Reach more beneficiaries
    - Cultivate donor relationships
    - Build partnerships
    - Increase organizational visibility
    - Engage constituents with your cause
    - Motivate your online community to take action

(2) Understand best practices and lessons learned in the nonprofit community with regard to:
    - Writing for the web
    - Social media (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube)
    - Mass emailing
    - Website design
    - Constituent relationship management
    - Online fundraising
    - Online campaign development

Level

Nonprofit professionals who are directly involved in their organization’s communication, development, community outreach or public relations activities. Some direct experience with social media, communications, marketing or fundraising is preferable though not required.

Presenters

Elizabeth Beachy is co-founder of Upleaf, and brings to the firm 15 years working with the nonprofit sector. She holds a Master of Health Sciences degree with a specialization in health communications
from the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. Elizabeth worked for 7 years with Population Services International, the world’s largest nonprofit social marketing organization, both in Washington D.C. and overseas. She has also served as a development and/or communication consultant for several international organizations including Family Health International, the International Planned Parenthood Federation, and the Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Programs, among others.
Ms. Beachy specializes in strategic communication (reaching target populations with compelling messages) and is an accomplished fundraiser, having helped raise a total of over $135 million for the various organizations she has worked with.

Osvaldo Gómez holds an MBA in Strategic Business Administration and Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing from the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM) in the Dominican Republic. In addition to his more than 10 years of experience as marketing manager for major international brands, Mr. Gómez is a web developer with experience developing content management systems (Drupal, WordPress) and constituent relationship management systems (Salesforce, CiviCRM).
