Description of the Volunteer Opportunity: 

SAGE Albuquerque - Services and Advocacy for GLBT Elders - is a project of the Common Bond New Mexico. See https://sageabq.org/ for details. SAGE is also an affiliate of SAGE-USA, https://www.sageusa.org/. SAGE Albuquerque is governed by an Advisory Committee, which is currently seeking additional members.
SAGE Albuquerque carries out four activities:
- Cultural competency training for senior-serving organizations (nursing homes, assisted living facilities, home care agencies) to help them better meet the needs of GLBT seniors
- Creating and maintaining a datrabase of resources
- Improving in-home services (we have big plans for this activity)
- Offering support groups and numerous social opportunities
The Advisory Committee oversees these activities and helps move them forward.

- Improved quality of life through participation in support groups and social opportunities

Committee/board orientation to SAGE Albuquerque's strategic plan and resources.
Training on GLBT cultural competency
Problem solving assistance on specific program activities
Visibility throughout the GLBT community for your contributions

Additional Requirements: 

An awareness of GLBT cultural competency issues and concerns; an interest in making a difference in Albuquerque's GLBT community; and a positive outlook about what we can all achieve when we work together.
