Description of the Volunteer Opportunity:
www.bestbuddiesfriendshipwalk.org/newmexico
On Sunday, April 30, Best Buddies will host their third annual Friendship Walk at the Balloon Fiesta Park. Everybody needs a friend. But not everybody has one. It can be very hard for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to make connections on their own. So Best Buddies matches them with a peer volunteer to form a "buddy pair". New friends open up a new world of opportunities!
It's free to walk, and any money you raise helps New Mexico continue to build programs dedicated to one-to-one friendships, leadership development, and integrated job opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Register to walk, or make a donation to your favorite team and help them reach their goals. Donations from people like you and me make local Best Buddies programs possible. Big, small, somewhere in between—your support won’t go unnoticed. Now is the time to be a superhero for Best Buddies New Mexico.
Who Will Be Impacted Through This Project:
The IDD community that Best Buddies serves includes, but is not limited to, people with Down syndrome, autism, Fragile X, Williams syndrome, cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury and other undiagnosed disabilities.
At the event, you will run or walk along side Best Buddies participants. You’ll see the impact of your fundraising before your own eyes.
