Description of the Volunteer Opportunity: 

If your words could heal, would you speak up? If your presence could provide comfort, would you show up? Join us as a Volunteer Advocate!

Provide support, crisis intervention, information, referrals and in-person advocacy to survivors of sexual violence and their loved ones. Volunteer Crisis Response Advocates are available to respond immediately to incoming crisis calls and in-person advocacy to victims in need of support.

Who Will Be Impacted Through This Project: 

➢ As a Volunteer Crisis Response Advocate, you need to focus your attention on others and their crisis and must have a firm grasp on your own emotions.
➢ Your effort is rewarded by knowing that you have helped someone through a difficult time and that you made a positive impact in somebody’s life.

The training qualifies for certification by the National Advocate Credentialing Program through the National Organization for Victim Assistance.

Additional Requirements: 

Qualifications
• Minimum of 18 years of age
• Possess the desire and the ability to work with individuals and groups of varying backgrounds
• Successful completion of 40-hour training (next training begins September 10, 2019) and criminal background check
• Minimum 1 year commitment to the program
