Description of the Volunteer Opportunity: 

You can earn money for education while making a difference in your community! The New Mexico Coalition to End Homelessness is currently recruiting VISTA members to join a statewide VISTA team that works together to end homelessness in New Mexico. NMCEH VISTA members work behind the scenes to assist our members in strengthening their current programs through fundraising, volunteer recruitment, event planning, and educational programming.

The member agencies that NMCEH VISTAs serve see a dramatic improvement in their capacity to raise funds and utilize volunteer service through the AmeriCorps VISTA program.

Nonprofit Will Provide: 

VISTA positions are open to all US citizens, nationals, and lawful permanent resident immigrants age 18 or older. Members receive a modest living allowance of $973 per month and support with childcare if needed. Other benefits include student loan forbearance or deference and a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award or post-service stipend.

Additional Requirements: 

VISTAs serve full-time and make a year-long commitment beginning February 2015, and are required to attend an AmeriCorps* VISTA Volunteer training before their year of service begins, and out of state travel may be required. Travel expenses will be covered by the AmeriCorps* VISTA program.
