Description of the Volunteer Opportunity: 

Volunteer’s currently act as teacher assistants (warm bodies) to enrich classroom education. They also are facilitators for off campus field trips to help manage large cohorts of students. The volunteer will be in charge of assisting in the design of the curriculum and clarifying instruction for students. Interested candidates will receive exposure to the college accredited projects that students are managing at the ECO. Volunteers may also receive additional training in project areas to assist in project management. Volunteers and mentors will also reap the benefit of advancing their protégés through the transfer of knowledge.

Who Will Be Impacted Through This Project: 

Santa Fe has a graduation rate of +/- 60%, so, 40% of youth are falling through the cracks. ECO works to solve this problem by creating a learning zone for vulnerable youth that are susceptible to dropout, high truancy and social delinquencies.

• Strong conflict resolution skills
• Ability to micro-manage lessons
