Description of the Volunteer Opportunity:

We have 22 screening teams in NM, and we go to scheduled school eye screening days with a special camera that takes 32 pictures inside the eye in 2-3 seconds which can diagnose 8 different potential eye problems.

We test Head Start, Pre-K, Kinder and 1st Graders. If a possible problem is found, we refer the child to a local eye care professional for a full exam. If the family does not have the funds available for the needed services then the New Mexico Lions Operation Kidsight will pay for the necessary services and goods.
