Description of the Volunteer Opportunity: 

Assist new mothers in meeting their fullest potential as parents by offering compassionate and nonjudgmental in-home support. Physical, emotional and educational help revitalizes mothers so they can be present for their families. Offering respite care allows the mothers to get well deserved rest so they are able to nurse, bond with and relate to their infants and other family members. Training available. Back ground checks and references necessary.

Who Will Be Impacted Through This Project: 

The mothers, as well as their immediate families, will benefit from the kind support you offer. When you connect them to other resources in the community, isolation is diminished and relationships are developed.

Nonprofit Will Provide: 

An initial 4 hour orientation will be provided prior to caring for a family. Mothering the mother, baby basics, toddler needs and how the organization supports the volunteer will all be covered. Every other month volunteer meetings enable volunteers to meet and support each other.

Additional Requirements: 

References and national criminal back ground checks will be conducted. The service period is one 3 hour visit per week for three months.
