Description of the Volunteer Opportunity: 

We are seeking an individual to help with a unique volunteer opportunity in the Office of the Volunteer Coordinator.

At the Museum, our volunteers are involved in almost every aspect of our operations, and we are developing additional volunteer opportunities and programming. As the Volunteer Program Special Assistant, you will provide administrative and project-based support. Additionally, the Special Assistant will be assigned and will oversee a special project, which includes development and implementation.

While the duties are primarily administrative, there is a lot of latitude for growth in this position. Projects and tasks can be tailored to the volunteer’s area of interest and to his/her strengths.

Volunteers must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment, must have a positive and customer-service-oriented demeanor, and thrive in a team setting.

The Museum serves over 70,000 visitors annually. As a Special Assistant, you will help the Museum to leverage its resources and enact growth. This means the Museum will be able to serve more individuals, families and students.

Additional Requirements: 

You should expect to commit 2 to 8 hours per week on a regular basis, though the hours are flexible during the regular workday (Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm). This position can be tailored to short-term projects, or can be an ongoing opportunity.
