Dates Volunteer is Needed:
First Thursday of the month 6-8pm board meetings, potentially up to 10 hours a month, flexible.
Description of the Volunteer Opportunity:
We are seeking to fill both the seats of Treasurer and Vice President on our Board of Directors. We have a fairly active board of 7 members, a newly hired Executive Director and a very active Garden Coordinator. We are looking to round out our board of directors with folks who are passionate about the environment, health and environmental based education and supporting the agricultural community in the Rio Grande Valley.
The Vice President would play a supportive role to the president in guiding the rest of the board and our small staff through our yearly goals and partnerships.
The Treasurer would work closely with the President, our volunteer book keeper and our CPA to track and record finances using Quick Books online, ensuring the books stay up to date. They will also work with the ED and the rest of the board to develop and manage our ongoing budgets for projects and fundraisers.
Who Will Be Impacted Through This Project:
With partnerships like Tres Hermanas and Desert Forge we work closely with communities of refugees and military vets. We work with school age groups to encourage a connection with food production and a healthy environment. We work to create resilient ecosystems for our native wildlife. We support around 100 gardeners in our community garden.
