Every nonprofit organization will eventually begin a search for a new Executive Director. Hiring an Executive Director is the most important job that your Board of Directors will do for your agency. The process takes six to twelve months and can't be rushed. 

An executive search costs an organization thousands of dollars in staff and volunteer time. If the position is vacant for too long, lost grant and donor revenue can destabilize even the most established agencies. Your Board of Directors must have the time to recruit, interview and choose the ideal candidate to fill this crucial leadership position.
