Dates Volunteer is Needed: 
5 hours per month or mutually agreed upon time, Monday – Friday, during business hours and the occasional weekend. Flexible schedule. 6 month commitment desired.

Description of the Volunteer Opportunity: 

Creating and maintaining relationships with LLS stakeholders with the goal of connecting every newly diagnosed blood cancer patient to LLS.
• Create and/or maintain existing health care professional (HCP) relationships with local oncology
centers and community organizations
• Present LLS patient services information and encourage HCP’s to utilize LLS patient referral form and
provide patients with LLS materials/resources
• Update and maintain local hospital/clinic resource libraries with LLS materials
• Attend and display LLS patient access materials at community health events, such as health fairs and
education programs
• Log new contacts, outreach meetings, and personal volunteer hours into LLS database

Who Will Be Impacted Through This Project: 

LLS exists to find cures and ensure access to treatments for blood cancer patients. We are the voice for all blood cancer patients and we work to ensure access to treatments for all blood cancer patients.

The purpose of the Patient Access Volunteer Development program is to engage volunteers to enhance the support of blood cancer patients and their families.

Nonprofit Will Provide: 

LLS orientation and volunteer training pertaining to job duties and responsibilities. Outreach is an integral step to help increase healthcare professional referrals and in turn, guide more blood cancer patients to LLS resources and services. This position has great opportunity to network and make professional contacts, have access to LLS events, and be part of a nationwide LLS community. LLS orientation and volunteer training pertaining to job duties and responsibilities. Equipment, and work space or the ability to work from home.

Additional Requirements: 

• Strong interpersonal skills and professional demeanor
• Evidenced sensitivity (experience working with cancer patients preferred)
• Strong verbal and written skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Excellent database management skills
• Detail-oriented and organized
• Quick learner of new databases and software
