Description of the Volunteer Opportunity:

The Friends of Valle de Oro Urban National Wildlife Refuge are looking for board members in-particular a
Treasurer.

The Friends group supports the mission of the refuge. Last year we served approximately 3,700 visits from school kids for educational programming. The Friends contributed approximately $7,500 in school field trip transportation and other educational programming, in order to supplement local schools’ ability to visit the Refuge due to gaps in field trip funding.

In addition to environmental educational programs for school kids, Valle de Oro National Wildlife Refuge served approximately 6,700 participants in on and off-site talks and programs.

The Friends has an outside accounting firm that tracks our finances and provides reports. The treasurer would interpret the reports and present the financials at our board meetings. In addition we are looking for other board members. Especially with fundraising experience.
