Description of the Volunteer Opportunity: 

New Mexico’s newest Civil Air Patrol squadron — West Mesa Composite Squadron — is seeking adult volunteers to mentor cadet members.

CAP is the all-volunteer auxiliary of the Air Force, specializing in aerospace education, emergency services and youth development. Adult members have the chance to train and participate in search-and-rescue and disaster response, take advantage of professional development opportunities within CAP, as well as share their military or other professional know-how with the squadron’s cadets, as well as help them with STEM education.

The squadron meets once a week at SAMS Academy adjacent to Double Eagle II Airport on Albuquerque’s West Side.
No previous aviation or military experience is required. Anyone interested in CAP is invited to attend a squadron meeting. Prospective cadets are also invited.
