Description of the Volunteer Opportunity: 

As a volunteer, you will interact with people who need help preparing their tax returns at no cost to them. We need volunteers to serve as Site Coordinators and Tax Preparers. If preparing taxes is not your ideal volunteer assignment we still have a place for you. We also need Greeters/Screeners and Interpreters.

Free classroom training takes place in December and January on the main campus of Central New Mexico Community College (CNM) in Albuquerque.

Who Will Be Impacted Through This Project: 

Last tax season, Tax Help New Mexico returned over $20 million in refunds to local communities including $2 million in Child Tax Credit and over $5.6 million in Earned Income Tax Credit. The program also saved tax payers over $5 million in tax preparation fees.

Free online and classroom training covering all aspects of tax preparation necessary to pass the Advanced IRS certification exam.

- All necessary training and study materials.

- Volunteer as many or as few hours as you choose

- Day, evening and Saturday hours available

- 31 Tax Help sites to choose from

Additional Requirements: 

Must attend training class.
