Description of the Volunteer Opportunity: 

Health Action New Mexico is a nonprofit consumer advocacy organization that works for affordable, accessible, and accountable health care for all people living in New Mexico. We are currently accepting applications for two internship positions. Focus areas for Summer 2014 are as follows:
Dental Therapy Legislative Intern - hands-on work preparing for the 2015 NM Legislative session, including researching NM legislators as well as the development of briefs, maps, infographics, blog posts, and other educational materials.
Health Policy Intern - research current issues in health policy, with a focus on in-state developments regarding the Exchange, Medicaid, Native American enrollment. Will include a strong focus on preparing for the next open enrollment period.

Thousands of New Mexicans do not have health insurance, or do not have access to dental care. We are actively working to alleviate both of these issues.
