Description of the Volunteer Opportunity: 

Be a basic literacy tutor: helping an adult learn to read and write. You will be matched with an adult who wants to learn or improve his reading and writing. You will meet with your student 2 to 3 hours a week. Expect another 2 hours a week for preparation. You will be trained by a ProLiteracy certified trainer. You will be responsible for creating lesson plans, tutoring, and preparing monthly progress reports. We ask for a 6 month commitment. We also need substitute tutors if you want to help but are concerned about the time commitment. You do not have to have prior teaching experience.

Training will be held on October 18 and October 25, 2014. You must attend both days. We will provide lunch & refreshments at the training. If you miss the October training, we will host another training after January 1, 2015.
